Everton have reached an agreement with Chelsea over the signing of Tyrique George on loan. The deal includes an option to buy at the end of the season.

“George has been given permission to travel for a medical and the deal includes an option to buy at the end of the season. The agreement is pending ratification on the Everton side,” reports The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

Fabrizio Romano also confirmed the development with his signature “here we go” post on X.

The addition of George will boost Everton’s attacking options, especially in the aftermath of Jack Grealish’s injury. Grealish, diagnosed with a stress fracture in the foot, will probably miss the remainder of the season.

19-year-old George has scored three goals in 11 matches this season. He enjoyed a breakthrough season under Enzo Maresca in the 2024-25 campaign, making 26 appearances and scoring three goals.

The England U21 international had nearly agreed a £22million move to Fulham last summer but it broke down in the final hours of the window.

Harry Wilson would have been a better option.

But if this deal happens, good luck to the lad

George actually is fast, not just rumoured to be, he is actually fast.

Chelsea fans seem gutted to see him getting moved on so that tells you he has something worth having?

I’d love Harry Wilson but we’ve probably left it too late in the day now, perhaps Moyes sees this as a better cheaper and marginally younger option this summer than Jack Grealish?

A good deal for a young fast winger, could we also bring in a right back, three years waiting now, and thankfully it looks like Harrison is staying.

I think the fastest player that David Moyes signed was Sylvain Distin. He had great recovery pace in his prime.

Ben Godfrey, signed under Ancelotti, I believe, was also pacy, but alas, a very limited footballer.

Tyrique George sounds exciting- when we see him on the last day of the season with Everton safe and 5 minutes to play! 😉

Very talented kid and probably more ready for a starting spot than Dibling.

More than a little surprised that Chelsea are happy to include a sell-on clause.

Fast players signed by Moyes?

Johnson
Beckford
Bent
Mirallas
Drenthe
Distin
Baines
Pienaar
Jagielka
Yakubu

Cahill was no slouch, Arteta too.

Lescott was pacy by centre-back standards. Oviedo wasn’t slow.

Coleman?

Moyes didn’t sign pace? Bollocks. Did we consistently have pace throughout the team? That’s a different question…

Getting this lad in really puts the pressure on Dibling.

As mentioned, Mr George appears to be ready to go straight in if required. Hopefully this loan will give Dibling a good kick up the arse, which he definitely needs.

Crystal Palace are showing late interest in a move for Everton winger Dwight McNeil.

McNeil has found himself out of favour at Hill Dickinson Stadium and Palace are working on a deal to sign the attacker.

The 26-year-old has one assist in 14 Premier League appearances this season and Everton value him at about £20M.

A way out for both parties as McNeil’s race is run at Everton. Value, we should except round £10M to £12M. By by, Dwight, how you ended up at Goodison after a season with no goals, no assists and your team relegated is a true mystery.

McNeil struggling this season and would probably benefit from a move away, but he made very valuable contributions to our survival before he was beset by personal problems.

If he does go to Palace, he would go with my very best wishes/

I’d have no hard feeling towards McNeil, why would we?

He arrived in 2022 and he was a decent player for where we were at back then and probably excelled as a Dyche player in 2023-24.

We’ve outgrown this type of player now and same for players like Vitaly Mykolenko, solid enough player during a dark spell for our club but we need to progress to the next level now.

Agree Darren, 20.

TFG and their crack recruitment team with 155 minutes to go have again failed to address our glaring needs. Full backs and a striker. Another young winger. Great. It’s down the list and how many minutes will he get?

There seems to be more on outgoing than incoming, and that’s deeply worrying with a thin squad. 20 million for McNeil? Well, to cancel the money we might spend on George so that Saint Daniel the Absent will have spent fuck all on us. Unlike Roma, where he actually goes to matches.

No usual Deadline Day LF. Not that many posts really. Sympton and symbol of a grey day.

@Paul #23

He can play as a striker as well, though I think he will play left wing. Whilst his end product in regards to assists isn’t up to Grealish’s standards, he will run at players, and cause havoc in the area and his shot is probably a lot better that Jack’s.

All good to hear Izzy, thanks, but 1. He hasn’t signed yet, and 2. If this goes through, as it seems it will, how many minutes will he get?

Your good news is welcome Izzy, but it doesn’t help with right-back and striker.

Izzy – add to that – Barry is now going to get a lot more service at pace from the left and Branthwaite will have a willing runner to deliver defence/splitting thread passes to. If it goes to plan we could be looking at a proper counterattacking Everton. “If”.

Good loan this, would have loved a RB though.

Is it too optimistic to think they have a quality target or targets that they just can’t get in January?

Know their was an immediate need with grealish getting injured, but we’ve been in need of full backs for years, Rafa was the last manager that tried to solve it, buying Patterson & myko, no ones bothered since !

Dear God are we still going on about Tete? ‘Reportedly’?. ‘Reportedly’ we offered some money and Patterson for Holm who ‘reportedly’ is on his way to Juventus. We really tried there if in fact we did. ‘Reportedly’ Juve have a €15 million buy option if there is any truth in this. Fact, we have not got a new right-back.

The whole modern game lives on gossip, rumour and hopes and fears and if we now face fact checkers, then the fun will just vanish..

The fun goes when you look at the position our team had got themselves into at the end of 2025, and you think to yourself that we could have had a real chance of punching above our weight, for the first time since Moyes, was last here, especially with players returning from either the AFCON or injury, until it became clear that the powers that be, just hadn’t had the same vision.

We can’t even attract prem ready fullbacks and have 2 strikers that no other prem team would entertain.

Tfg haven’t exactly splashed the cash.

So loans and out of contracts players are the new Everton.

Meanwhile Palace and Fulham outspend us.

Pleased we got George over the line as it will give us pace and so many more options being able to use either flank.

As for O’Neil, maybe despite the clerical error there is a verbal agreement to resurrect in the summer.

As for the ongoing saga at full back, I will be fascinated to see who eventually ends up playing left or right back ? and if the Managers says, this is the player we wanted but we had to wait. I hope its worth the wait ?
