An appeal to find a group of men wanted in connection with a shooting incident in Sutton Coldfield which has left a man fighting for his life, has been launched by police.

A man in his 20s was shot in a property in Mount View off Reddicap Hill in Sutton Coldfield shortly before midnight on Saturday (January 31).

He was left with ‘serious gunshot wounds’ and was left fighting for his life in a ‘critical condition’. A woman was also injured in the incident.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called to reports of a shooting on Mount View, Sutton Coldfield, at 11.24pm on Saturday 31 January.

“An ambulance, two paramedic officers and a trauma team responded.

“On arrival, they found a man who had sustained serious injuries.

“He received advanced trauma care from the team before being conveyed under blue light conditions to hospital for further emergency care.”

West Midlands Police said this was a ‘targeted attack’ and it has now said officers want to identify and find a group of men suspected of being involved in the shooting.

They are said to have fled the scene on electric bikes after the incident took place.

Police are asking for information and footage from the area and the force has set up a Major Incident Public Portal, where images and video can be uploaded to help detectives with their investigations.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We’re appealing for footage and information after a man was seriously injured following a shooting in Sutton Coldfield at the weekend.

“A man in his 20s remains in a critical condition in hospital after being shot in Mount View shortly before 11.30pm on Saturday (January 31).

“A woman also sustained minor injuries after a number of gun shots were fired.

“We’re continuing to investigate the circumstances but following enquiries, we understand a group of men, who are suspected of being involved, fled on electric bikes.

“We’re keen to hear from anyone with information and have set up a Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) where any images, still or moving, can be submitted to us.

Detective Inspector Francis Nock, from West Midlands Police’s major crime unit, said: “A man has been very seriously injured and we’re determined to find out who was responsible for doing this.

“We’re working around the clock to establish exactly what happened and we know there will be people who can help us.

“Both the man, and his family, deserve answers and we’d ask you to do the right thing as any footage, imagery or information could prove vital to the investigation.”

A police spokesperson added: “We’ve increased our police presence in the area following the incident.
