A pedestrian struck by a tractor-trailer in North York on Tuesday morning has died in hospital, Toronto police confirm.
The collision happened near Steeles Avenue West and Petrolia Road, near Keele Street, at around 8:15 a.m.
Police said one person was rushed from the scene to hospital in life-threatening condition but later died. The victim is believed to be a male in his 20s and officers are in the process of notifying next-of-kin.
The driver of the tractor-trailer remained on scene.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday morning, police said it is too early to say if charges will be laid. The collision reconstruction team is now on scene and officers are reviewing security video from the area.
The eastbound lanes of Steeles Avenue are closed at Petrolia Road for the police investigation.
