Celtic are now reportedly closing in on their second deadline-day signing after announcing the arrival of Junior Adamu.
Celtic sign Junior Adamu
The Bhoys were always likely to leave it late in the January transfer window and did exactly that in pursuit of Adamu. The Freiburg forward has arrived just in time, completing a loan move to Martin O’Neill‘s side.
After putting pen to paper ahead of the deadline, Adamu told the club website: “I’m very excited to be here and I can’t wait to get started. I want to give my best for this club and try win the title, also the cup, and to score a lot of goals and help the team, and I also want to improve as a player.
“I’ve spoken with the manager and he’s given me good motivation, and I trust him, he’s given me that trust, he’s told me how the system is and I feel the connection is really strong.

“I’m dangerous in the box and hungry for goals. That’s what the manager sees in me and I want to show that on the pitch. I can’t wait to be in the stadium, I’ve seen a lot of videos and it looks amazing, and I can’t wait to get started.”
He will join Tomas Cvancara in an attempt to revive Celtic’s frontline for the rest of the season. The champions still have a shot at retaining their Scottish Premiership title, but must close the six-point gap on shock leaders Hearts.
It seems as though they’re set to do everything possible on deadline day to hand O’Neill the tools to do exactly that too, amid reports that there could still be at least one more name on the way.
Celtic closing in on Benjamin Arthur
According to Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph, Celtic are now closing in on signing Benjamin Arthur from Brentford on loan for the rest of the season. Talks are ongoing and the deal would allow Stephen Walsh to head back to Motherwell on loan before the window slams shut.
The 20-year-old centre-back isn’t someone that would steal the headlines from the get-go. He’s made just three first-team appearances for Brentford this season, after all. He is, however, a defender full of potential and there’s certainly no harm in working with a manager of O’Neill’s stature as a result.

The Hoops still have business to do…
The Premier League talent will be one to watch in Scotland if he completes his move. The Bhoys haven’t got long to finalise things on that front, though should be hopeful that they can push on before the deadline.
