A 46-year-old man is facing multiple charges after allegedly trafficking a female victim for sex across southern Ontario for three years.

Toronto police say they launched a human trafficking investigation in 2024, though the alleged incidents occurred from 2013 to 2016.

The accused allegedly deceived, coerced and controlled the victim and posted ads online for sexual services, which included sexualized pictures and photos.

Police say the suspect also drugged and sexually assaulted the woman.

In Tuesday’s news release, Toronto police announced they arrested James Kenneth West, of Brampton, in connection with their investigation.

West has been charged with 17 different offences, including assault, procuring a person under 18 years, material benefit from sexual services provided by a person under 18 years, and sexual assault.

While some of the charges refer to offences involving a minor, police did not disclose how old the victim was.

The charges have not been tested in court.

Investigators say they are concerned there may be more victims.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 416-808-4838 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
