An 18-year-old boy was stabbed in the arm at a Vancouver high school after a basketball game on Monday night.
According to new information from the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), the alleged assault took place just after 9 p.m., as a basketball game between Eric Hamber and Killarney was ending.
Eric Hamber, the school where the incident took place, is located on the west side of Vancouver, between Oak and Willow streets on West 33rd Avenue.
VPD believes that fights broke out among spectators, which resulted in the 18-year-old boy getting stabbed. The victim was taken to the hospital and received medical treatment.
So far, no arrests have been made, and VPD hasn’t named any suspects. However, the department is asking for the public’s help.
“Police are asking anyone who took cell phone video during the fight, or while the game was taking place, to submit video online. A web portal has been created for submissions.”
VPD has a link to submit videos connected to the Vancouver high school stabbing on its website.
Other witnesses, or anyone with information who hasn’t come forward, can call VPD’s Youth Investigative Unit at 604-717-0614.
“Additional school liaison officers are being deployed to both schools. They will provide additional support and conduct safety planning with staff and administrators,” VPD added.
