A Conservative member from this province calls a recent speech by Pierre Poilievre “refreshing,” after attending a national leadership vote in Calgary over the weekend.
Kristina Ennis ran in the last provincial election under the PC banner, but also voted in the leadership review of Poilievre, where he gained 87 per cent of the vote to stay on as leader.
Poilievre told Conservative supporters on Friday night that the convention’s theme was hope – something Ennis saw as a change in tone from the federal leader.
“There’s different ideologies across the country and what different cultures and populations respond to. I think out east we’re perpetually optimistic and we don’t love the constant negativity, but there are pockets of the country who do respond to that,” she told VOCM News.
“I’m looking forward to going forward a bit more recognition that there are different needs (for each province).”
