MADISON COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — One person is dead after a UTV crash during this weekend’s winter storm in Marshall.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says first responders were called to Buckeye Ridge around 10:14 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, regarding a UTV crash over an embankment.

When officers arrived, they found 76-year-old Hugh Blomeke suffering from traumatic injuries. Despite efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones affected by this tragedy,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
