Woman’s remains found in basement of Brooklyn NYCHA building, police say

A woman’s remains were found in the basement of a public housing building in Brooklyn on Sunday, NYPD officials said.

Officers responded to a 911 call for an unconscious person at the building on Bushwick Avenue near McKibbin Street in Williamsburg shortly after 9:30 a.m., according to the department.

They discovered the remains in the basement of the building, which is part of NYCHA’s Borinquen Plaza II complex.

Police identified the woman as Michelle Montgomery, a 39-year-old who lived at the Gowanus Houses, another NYCHA development in Brooklyn.

The city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine her cause of death.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

There have been no arrests yet in the case, according to officials.
