Aberdeen’s clash with Celtic at Pittodrie is OFF.

The Dons announced a pitch inspection had been called for 4pm following days of torrential rain in the north east.

And the Scottish Premiership fixtures has succumbed.

It is a major blow for both sets of fans – and Sky Sports who were due to beam the midweek match live.

Thousands of travelling supporters had started their long journey to the north east.

The postponement gives Dundee United the opportunity to leapfrog the Dons into seventh place when they take on Hibs, while Rangers can also jump ahead of Celtic and into second place with a win over Kilmarnock.
