GO Transit commuters are being urged to plan ahead for the morning commute due to a modified train schedule, following a derailment at Union Station on Monday and days of rush hour delays, said Metrolinx.
It’s the fourth day of reduced service after a derailed train caused havoc on train schedules and delayed thousands of commuters.
Trains will run on the following special schedule Thursday morning:
Lakeshore East: 60-minute service, outside of 15–30-minute peak service windows.Lakeshore West: 60-minute service, outside of 15–30-minute peak service windows.UP Express: regular 15-minute interval service.Kitchener: 60-minute service, outside of 30-minute peak service windows.Milton: 30-minute service during peak service hours.Richmond Hill: 60-minute morning and afternoon peak service.Stouffville: 30-minute morning and afternoon peak service.Barrie: 30-minute morning and afternoon peak service.
The transit agency said a schedule update for Thursday evening and Friday morning will come later in the day.
While Metrolinx said on Wednesday afternoon that the modified service has been “steady” and operating “as intended,” there have been some delays seen throughout rush hour service in the past few days.
Around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, one Lakeshore East train and one Lakeshore West train were delayed due to equipment issues, said Metrolinx Wednesday evening. That issue caused delays and cancellations for other customers travelling on the lines.
It said customers on board the Lakeshore East train were offloaded at Pickering GO Station around 7 p.m. While the Lakeshore West train was able to move forward on its route at an undisclosed time.

No updates on when repairs will finish
While the majority of track repairs are complete, work is still ongoing to the signal system, which may require more time, said the agency in a statement Wednesday afternoon.
It had said impacts would extend into Thursday, but did not provide any information if modified scheduling and delays would go into Friday.
A GO train leaving Union Station at low speed Monday morning derailed and made contact with a track switch, causing “signal system disruptions” and “considerable service impacts,” said Metrolinx.
Commuters impacted by Monday’s incident will be eligible for a refund, it said. Refunds can be requested by submitting a claim online.
