The final day of the Sepang MotoGP test saw Alex Marquez on top for both lap time and Sprint simulation pace.

The Gresini Ducati rider, last year’s Malaysian MotoGP winner, set the fastest lap of the test in the morning session, then was the rider to beat for most of the afternoon – until late time attacks by Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio di Giannantonio.

However, Bezzecchi’s Session 2 time came up 0.124s short of Alex Marquez’s morning flyer.

The Gresini star was also crucially the fastest of those to try Sprint simulations on the final day, beating the average pace of factory Ducati duo Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez.

Thursday saw Yamaha’s new V4 returning to action after getting the all-clear to resume testing following Tuesday’s ‘technical issue’.

However, Fabio Quartararo joined Jorge Martin and Fermin Aldeguer on the sidelines after his day-one finger injury.

The final pre-season test takes place at Buriram on February 21-22, the weekend before the Thai season-opener…
