The campaign is encouraging people to use the British Heart Foundation’s 15-minute online RevivR tool to learn CPR.

February has been designated as Heart Month by the EFL and every fixture in this round of Championship, League One and League Two matches will be delayed by 60 seconds, to acknowledge that survival rates of those suffering a cardiac arrest drop by 10% for every minute without CPR or defibrillation.

Watford’s skipper at Southampton, likely to be Imran Louza, will also make the heart-hands gesture alongside the Saints skipper ahead of kick-off in front of the TV cameras.

Sky Bet will donate £1,000 to the British Heart Foundation for every goal scored across the EFL in February.

The Every Minute Matters campaign launched in May 2024, after Luton Town skipper Tom Lockyer collapsed on the pitch during the 2023 Championship play-off final and then suffered a cardiac arrest while playing for the Hatters in the Premier League at Bournemouth in December 2023.

Watford’s new signing Edoardo Bove is also working his way back to full fitness after suffering a cardiac arrest on the pitch while playing for Fiorentina against Inter Milan in Serie A in December 2024.
