A UK snow bomb measuring 26 INCHES deep is set to hammer the UK with the exact date of arrival announced. The snow storm is expected to make landfall in England and Scotland on February 12, from 6am.

The exact hour of flurries has been announced as the country turns white on weather maps from WX Charts once again. The advanced modelling, based on the GFS system, shows snow in Scotland, with major towns like Glasgow hit.

Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen face flurries too, with the blanket of the white stuff heaviest in the Cairngorms National Park. In the Highlands, accumulations could reach a staggering 26 inches within just a day.

Major towns and cities like Glasgow and Dundee could see up to 20 inches, too, according to the maps and charts. The maps show 90 per cent of Scotland, north of the border, will be covered by the wintriness.

Further south, and Englands looks likely to take a battering from rainfall rather tan snow, but the white stuff could impact the North East of England, too, until 9pm on February 12.

The day of snowfall could see Cumbria, Northumberland and Durham worst-hit in England, while the North West and Midlands see heavy deluges of rainfall instead.

The snow falling from 6am until 9pm would be 15 hours non-stop, and bring communities to a standstill, it is feared.

Issuing his verdict, James Madden, from Exacta Weather, said: “Despite temperatures turning milder from and for the south during this weekend, particularly on and around Sunday in the south, some further sporadic and light snow showers could still be likely to form in parts of northern and central England during Friday and Saturday (very hit-and-miss) and further wintry weather and snow will remain an almost “continuous feature” across parts of the far north and Scotland in this period and for much of the upcoming weekend (the wording used in our several day ahead reports for Scotland and the far north this week).”
