It’s been a balmy week for much of Alberta with temperatures soaring; however, some parts of the province have the chance of snow in the forecast soon.

With how nice it has been lately, it’s hard to believe we are in the first week of February, but some Albertans will be looking for their snow shovels in a matter of days.

Looking at the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) Significant Weather Outlook, a section of northern Alberta, including Fort McMurray, is at risk of seeing 10 to 15 centimetres of snow on Sunday.

Up to one millimetre of ice is also a risk, according to the outlook.

ECCC Significant Weather Outlook

Luckily for major city centres in Alberta, the risk of snow is not in the cards over the next seven days, with daytime highs above the freezing mark in Edmonton and Calgary, and plenty of sunshine, too.

Edmonton forecast

Environment and Climate Change Canada

According to ECCC, the average high for Edmonton around this time of year is -5°C, while the average low is -14°C.

Calgary forecast

If you’re looking to enjoy the sunshine over the coming days in both YEG and YYC, here are some great things to do this weekend in the City of Champions, and some fantastic things to do this weekend in Cowtown, too.
