Ramsay said: “It wasn’t the result we wanted, but it had the components that we were desperate for. We talked all week about it and I was pleased with the way we responded to last week’s defeat.
“We’ve had two really disappointing days recently in Norwich and Portsmouth. We’ve managed to follow up with a performance like today, and that’s the sign of a resilient group.
“We’re trying to find a way through difficult form and today was a step forwards, for sure. We need to make sure we build on everything we did today.
“I don’t think there was a great deal in it from a chances perspective. We restricted them to very little which was important in responding well to the way that we changed shape.
“We were able to come out with a clean sheet, and going forwards we will look at the way we created chances today. We had some really good spells on the ball, particularly in the first half, we entered the final third on a lot of occasions but didn’t have the cutting edge that we’re really going to need.
“In terms of solidity, organisation, and the way in which we adapted over the course of the week – that was a real step forward.
