West Yorkshire Police has launched an appeal for information in relation to the reported assault that happened in the early hours of today.

Officers were called at 3.14am to Flasby Street, in Keighley, where a 35-year-old man had been found with serious head injuries.

He was rushed to hospital by ambulance and remains in a critical condition, according to a spokesperson for police.

They said: “Initial enquiries have shown the man had been chased and assaulted by a group, armed with weapons, such as bats and sticks, in the vicinity of East Avenue.”

Two other men, aged 21 and 24, were also assaulted during the attack, but their injuries were not serious or life-threatening.

A large scene remains in place in between East Avenue and Flasby Street, and detectives from Bradford CID are carrying out enquiries to identify those involved.

Detective Superintendent Alan Weekes, Head of Crime and Safeguarding for Bradford District, said: “We are treating this incident very seriously and are carrying out extensive enquiries to identify those responsible.

“Based on the information we have so far, we believe this has been a targeted attack on the victim, who remains in a critical condition in hospital with very serious injuries.

“There is currently a large scene in place to undergo forensic examination and specialist searches.

“We appreciate the disruption this will be causing to local residents, and we are doing everything we can to minimise any inconvenience.

“We recognise that an incident of this nature will cause understandable concern in the community and we are liaising with officers on the local neighbourhood policing team to provide reassurance, and keeping local representatives updated as our enquiries progress.

“Our investigation remains at an early stage and we are very keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any part of this incident, particularly anyone with relevant CCTV, phone or dashcam footage.”
