A Calgary couple is facing charges after a months-long investigation led to a $70,000 drug trafficking bust in January, police say.

Officers said Monday the investigation began when undercover police say they spotted a man they believed was selling illegal drugs in September.

After three months, they found he was engaging with drug trafficking consistently.

This led police to execute a search of a home on the 2300 block of 25 Avenue NW on Jan. 22.

They seized over $30,000 worth of cocaine, nearly $40,000 in cash, 160 tablets of an unknown substance, and other items related to drug trafficking.

Officers say the couple, 39 and 36-year-olds Jamike and Brittany Nwofor, face two counts each of possession of a controlled substance for trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000.

Jamike has an additional count of trafficking cocaine.

Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
