Team USA Arrives in Milan – Day One A Whirlwind

The excitement and build-up around the return of NHL players to the Olympic Winter Games – both for players and fans – has been notable and that took another step forward as Team USA arrived in Milan this morning.

The players and staff came from various locations around North America and met in NYC before departing JFK to Milan shortly after 6 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Upon arrival in Milan this morning, Team USA went through passport control and then had their official Olympic accreditation validated, before moving to the Sheraton Hotel (about a five-minute walk) for the Team USA Welcome Experience (TUWE).

“How cool was that,” said Dylan Larkin of TUWE. “It really hit home when we came up those escalators and everyone was cheering and that video played welcoming us to the Olympic games.”

The players were split into three groups for TUWE after their official welcome and spent 40 minutes at each of the three different stations to receive their Team USA apparel. The players then boarded a charter bus for the hour-long journey to the Olympic Village, where they will stay throughout the duration of the Games.
