5:10 p.m. EST — The Roughriders may have found a replacement for Baldonado in their second Global spot, signing Dutch linebacker Tyron Vrede. He’s a seasoned pro from his years with Ottawa and can contribute on special teams.

5:02 p.m. EST — The Redblacks have confirmed the addition of Global defensive end Habakkuk Baldonado. The native of Rome, Italy, is widely believed to be the first true Global difference-maker at a non-specialist position.

5:01 p.m. EST — The Edmonton Elks have finally decided to confirm a signing, announcing the addition of former Rider receiver Joe Robustelli. He has a remarkable story, as this will be his fourth year of organized football despite being 28 years old. The sky is the limit.

5:00 p.m. EST — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats may have sneakily made the biggest splash of free agency day, signing American offensive tackle Trevor Reid. The 25-year-old was a standout with Saskatchewan in 2024 and earned an NFL shot that was derailed by injuries. He could be a difference-maker on the left side.

4:47 p.m. EST — Safe to say, we will not be updating you on today’s women’s hockey game. Honestly, you are better off not knowing.

4:36 p.m. EST — In non-CFL news, John Hodge is reporting that Football Canada and executive director Kevin McDonald have parted ways. Prior to his time with the national sports organization, McDonald spent nearly 20 years in the CFL front office.

4:31 p.m. EST — The Ottawa Redblacks have confirmed another addition, announcing the signing of American receiver Ayden Eberhardt. He had the second-highest yards per reception in the CFL last season in B.C., finishing third on the team in receiving despite being sixth in receptions. Talk about bang for your buck!

4:15 p.m. EST — Several of the biggest names that have agreed to terms have yet to be formally announced. Those include Canadian linebacker A.J. Allen and Global defensive end Habakkuk Baldonado in Ottawa, and American defensive end Malik Carney in Edmonton.

4:01 p.m. EST — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed American receiver Keric Wheatfall away from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He couldn’t quite live up to the number one job last year, but won’t have to in the Hammer and is still just 26.

4:00 p.m. EST — The Ottawa Redblacks have confirmed the signing of East Division all-star running back Greg Bell. According to our own Justin Dunk, that deal will make him the highest-paid American running back in the CFL.

3:52 p.m. EST — I would like to apologize for my earlier glibness regarding the slow start to the day. The last hour was much less fun, and I fear I have only myself to blame.

3:40 p.m. EST — The Toronto Argonauts have confirmed the signing of veteran American defensive back Robert Priester, while also adding American receiver Andre Miller. Whenever Priester is on the roster, the team tends to win the Grey Cup. Perhaps this is a good omen.

3:30 p.m. EST — The Montreal Alouettes have added some offensive line depth from the defending Grey Cup champions, signing Braydon Noll. The Canadian was a valuable sixth man for the Riders down the stretch.

3:28 p.m. EST — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have made the homecoming of McMaster product Tyson Middlemost official. He is the rare Canadian receiver who brings significant special teams value.

3:20 p.m. EST — The B.C. Lions have made another Canadian depth addition, signing Dawson Pierre, who was released by the Ottawa Redblacks last week. They now have eight National linebackers under contract.

3:15 p.m. EST — The Toronto Argonauts have officially added Canadian defensive end Jonathan Kongbo. He had a nice bounce-back with Edmonton in 2025, notching four sacks.

3:09 p.m. EST — The Saskatchewan Roughriders shore up a pass rush that is expected to lose both Malik Carney and Habakkuk Baldonado by officially signing American defensive lineman James Vaughters. The 32-year-old is a model of consistency.

3:06 p.m. EST — The Toronto Argonauts have finally entered the fray, confirming the reacquisition of three-time Grey Cup champion defensive back DaShaun Amos. The veteran spent last season in Hamilton and was badly missed in the Argos’ secondary.

3:02 p.m. EST — We have our first surprise of the day, as veteran kick returner Mario Alford has signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. That’s a savvy pickup for the Tabbies after Isaiah Wooden left for the NFL.

3:00 p.m. EST — The Redblacks continue a busy day by confirming the signing of American defensive tackle Dylan Wynn. He isn’t what he once was, but the former All-CFL pass rusher still provides great depth.

2:57 p.m. EST — Could this be the final year of the legal tampering window? There are some who believe it should be, as well as those who believe free agency should be moved up considerably earlier in the year. But if that were the case, how would the CFL stay relevant through the first few months of the year? Quite the dilemma.

2:45 p.m. EST — The Montreal Alouettes have officially signed American receiver Jerreth Sterns. He could be a sneaky good add as the team looks to replace Austin Mack, whom they cut earlier this offseason.

2:39 p.m. EST — The B.C. Lions have re-signed one of their own in linebacker Maxime Rouyer. The product of France was recently granted an unprecedented special exception by the CFL to turn from a Global into a National, which has likely extended his career.

2:31 p.m. EST — The Ottawa Redblacks have confirmed the signing of strongside linebacker C.J. Reavis. Somehow, someway, they let Adarius Pickett go and still managed to upgrade with a two-time All-CFL player at the position.

2:28 p.m. EST — Defensive lineman Jake Ceresna, who officially signed with Winnipeg last week, has revealed Zach Collaros’ sales pitch to join the Bombers: “How about you join my team and stop hitting me.” Succinct and to the point. I have no notes.

2:18 p.m. EST — The Montreal Alouettes have officially announced the signing of American quarterback Dustin Crum. He’ll provide an experienced backup option behind Davis Alexander, and probably won’t fumble at the goalline in the Grey Cup. Win-win.

2:09 p.m. EST — Winnipeg has made another signing official, adding veteran American defensive back Jonathan Moxey. He may be a little long in the tooth, but that is a quality cornerback addition for a team that badly needed one.

1:59 p.m. EST — Brian Cole II is officially joining the Ottawa Redblacks. The American linebacker should be a huge boost to the special teams unit after making 19 tackles in that area last season with Hamilton.

1:46 p.m. EST — The pace of announcements has picked up, but so far it has all been chalk. Who will give us our first surprise?

1:34 p.m. EST — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have officially announced the signings of Canadian defensive end Kene Onyeka and American offensive tackle Eric Lofton. The former should provide depth if the Tabbies want to make one or more defensive line positions a ratio spot, while the latter could start at tackle with both Jordan Murray and Brendan Bordner expected to leave in free agency.

1:30 p.m. EST — Our own John Hodge is reporting that talks are ongoing between Winnipeg and veteran Canadian defensive back Nick Hallett. He’s a free agent right now, but a return is possible for the core special teamer.

1:25 p.m. EST — It is worth repeating that new Redblack Demerio Houston originally agreed to terms with B.C., before that organization had a change of heart and pulled the offer. Whatever the team’s reasons, it serves as an important reminder that none of these deals are done until they are signed today.

1:20 p.m. EST — The West Final hero, Tommy Nield, is off to Winnipeg, the team has officially announced. That is a huge boost at Canadian receiver for a team that was starting Joey Corcoran and Gavin Cobb at points in 2025.

1:15 p.m. EST — The Ottawa Redblacks have entered the chat, officially signing American defensive back Demerio Houston. He’ll help upgrade what has been a porous secondary at times.

1:12 p.m. EST — With all due respect to Brissett, he will go down as one of the most random Most Valuable Canadians for his performance in the 2024 Grey Cup. Three catches for 45 yards and an onside recovery — Shamawd Chambers must have been proud!

1:08 p.m. EST — The Calgary Stampeders have officially added Canadian receiver Dejon Brissett after a breakout season with Toronto. He’ll help maintain their ratio after the departure of Damien Alford to the NFL, with three National pass catchers not outside the realm of possibility.

1:01 p.m. EST — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ two-year deal with All-CFL left tackle Jarell Broxton has been made official. He will likely be moved to right tackle, with 40-year-old Stanley Bryant still holding down the blindside. How’s that for a pair of bookends!

12:58 p.m. EST — This LIVE blog would probably be more entertaining if it were entirely in Spanish and sung while surrounded by humanoid grass, but alas, this is all we can provide. Maybe next year.

12:55 p.m. EST — See, this is why I prefer the CFL Draft.

12:45 p.m. EST — Clearly, it is the goalpost at the front of the end zone that is blocking all these deals from being announced. There will be 60 more signings once they are moved.

12:31 p.m. EST — The Saskatchewan Roughriders have entered the chat, signing two former NFL Draft picks in receivers Freddie Swain and Juwann Winfree. Not a CFL free agent move, but intriguing nonetheless.

12:28 p.m. EST — And we finally have our first official deal! The Calgary Stampeders have officially signed American defensive back Devodric Bynum. He was hurt all of last season, but had five interceptions as a rookie with the Elks. Should challenge for a role at cornerback.

12:25 p.m. EST — Man, this is almost as boring as the Super Bowl!

12:20 p.m. EST — If this were 2013, Ed Hervey would have already announced Odell Willis by now. And that was before there was a legal tampering window!

12:17 p.m. EST — This would be a great time to know how to whistle.

12:12 p.m. EST — We can only assume this is an organized moment of silence for Marie-Philip Poulin’s injury.

12:10 p.m. EST — The Edmonton Elks have announced a press conference on Wednesday for members of their 2026 free agent class. Now, if they would only make those names official…

12:07 p.m. EST — Somebody let the teams know that they don’t have to pretend not to tamper anymore.

12:00 p.m. EST — CFL free agency is officially open!

11:59 a.m. EST — RUUUUUMMMMMBBBBLE!!!!

11:58 a.m. EST — To…

11:57 a.m. EST — Ready…

11:56 a.m. EST — Get…

11:55 a.m. EST — Let’s…

11:50 a.m. EST — T-Minus 10 minutes until chaos reigns. I’m not sweating, you’re sweating…

11:40 a.m. EST — The B.C. Lions are the only team without an agreed-upon deal reported to date. General manager Ryan Rigmaiden pulled off some sneaky quiet acquisitions last year. Will he do it again?

11:30 a.m. EST — It’s important to remember that free agency isn’t just dictated by dollars and cents, but also by health. Several of the biggest names left available are coming off major injuries and may not be ready for training camp. In the case of star receiver Dalton Schoen, there is concern he will not play at all next season.

11:24 a.m. EST — I’ll be honest, these official CFL jersey photoshops give me a little bit of an uncanny valley vibe.

11:08 a.m. EST — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have also made an early addition, signing Global punter Fraser Masin. The Aussie was the first overall pick in last year’s Global Draft, but had been a free agent since finishing the season on Calgary’s practice squad. He should push to replace Nik Constantinou, who signed in the NFL.

11:06 a.m. EST — Santos-Knox began his career in Winnipeg and should push Kyrie Wilson for the starting job at weakside linebacker. That deal is now team official.

11:02 a.m. EST — We have a deal before the opening bell! Our own John Hodge is reporting that the Winnipeg Blue Bombers have agreed to terms with veteran linebacker Jovan Santos-Knox. He was already released by Ottawa and is therefore free to sign at any point.

10:58 a.m. EST — Before accusing your rivals of salary cap circumvention, remember that all CFL teams will have considerably more money to play with this year due to the revenue growth sharing model. Additionally, not every dollar a player receives counts against the cap due to the ever-popular use of marketing money, so teams have more financial flexibility than you may realize.

10:41 a.m. EST — Friendly reminder: if you tell people at work that you’re excited about the “big day in sports,” they’ll assume you’re talking about the Winter Olympics. Be sure to clarify that you’re talking about CFL free agency.

10:33 a.m. EST — With the Elks having agreed to terms with five pending free agents from Hamilton’s offence, it only seems fair to post this logo mock-up as well. Remember — these agreements can’t become official until 12:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday (today).

10:22 a.m. EST — Three of Ottawa’s free-agent agreements are with starters from Saskatchewan’s championship defence. We took the liberty of making this logo in case the Redblacks want to start using it.
