Everton have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The midfielder has been among David Moyes’ top choices to strengthen his options in the middle of the pitch this summer, with Jacob Ramsey also among those linked.

Dewsbury-Hall is set to become the Toffees’ fourth new signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Thierno Barry, Adam Aznou, and Mark Travers.

Negotiations are also ongoing over Southampton youngster Tyler Dibling, with Everton reportedly willing to pay more than £35million for the 19-year-old.

Dewsbury-Hall joined Chelsea just last summer, signing on a contract that could have run until 2030, after the Blues found a £30million agreement with Leicester City.

The 26-year-old had been coming off a hugely impressive season in the Championship, scoring 12 goals and providing 14 assists as the Foxes won the title.

With Enzo Maresca leaving Leicester to take charge at Stamford Bridge following the end of the season, a move to reunite the Italian with his former midfield star made sense.

However, Dewsbury-Hall struggled amid the mass competition at Chelsea. He made just 13 Premier League appearances throughout the season, with the majority of them coming from the bench.

The midfielder did excel in the UEFA Europa Conference League, scoring four goals and providing three assists, including one in the final, as Maresca’s side won the competition.

But the Englishman has now been deemed surplus to requirements in West London, however, and Everton are keen to take advantage of the market opportunity.

And, according to Alan Myers (4 August), the Toffees have now agreed an initial £25m fee with Chelsea, plus add-ons.

Dewsbury-Hall has a certain quality

Dewsbury-Hall will have a lot to offer Everton’s squad, despite his failure to become a key player at Chelsea.

The Englishman can be deployed throughout the midfield, most often seen as a box-to-box option with a superb ability to evade pressure.

And the 26-year-old is not lacking in Premier League experience after featuring in 59 games for Leicester, where he was often among the standouts.

At the very least, Moyes will be pleased to have brought in a new body in midfield, with the Scot’s options looking scarce following the departure of Abdoulaye Doucoure.
