Lange interviewed Oliver Glasner for the Aston Villa job when he worked at the Midlands club. Glasner has confirmed he will leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season.

Some fans have floated the romantic idea of asking former manager Martin Jol to return in an interim capacity until the end of the season. But when contacted by Telegraph Sport, the 70-year-old said: “I would love to, but I’m recovering from knee and shoulder injuries for the next couple of months.”

Harry Redknapp, another former Tottenham manager, has revealed he would accept an approach. The 78-year-old said: “Of course I would want the Tottenham job. Could I do it? Of course I could. They’ve got my number. If anyone wants to ring me, they know where I am.”

Edin Terzic, the former Borussia Dortmund head coach, would be interested in the Spurs post and turned down the chance to manage several clubs in Europe, including Monaco, to hold out for a Premier League job. But, as yet, he has not been approached.

Tottenham have suffered yet another long-term injury blow, with French reports claiming Wilson Odobert suffered an ACL injury against Newcastle and will miss the rest of the season.
