As the Seahawks moved through the city, the team saw what it created: A sea of blue and green, cheering crowds for miles and a city ignited by victory.

SEATTLE — Hundreds of thousands of 12s packed the streets of Seattle Wednesday morning as the Seattle Seahawks held their Super Bowl championship parade, celebrating a dominant 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots that sent the city into a frenzy of blue and green.

“I think the whole city of Seattle is proud right now,” one fan said, capturing the sentiment that seemed to pulse through every block of the route.

The two-mile parade route stretched from Lumen Field to the Space Needle, drawing fans from across the state, including Yakima, Spokane and beyond. The celebration emptied office buildings, pulled some students from classrooms, and brought the city to a standstill as crowds stretched far down the parade corridor.

Seahawks faithful turned out in force. Decorated ponies, decked-out fans, and rooftop revelers all played their part in a celebration that, by every measure, owned the city for the day.

“This is the atmosphere that we live for,” one attendee declared.

For many fans, nothing — not work, not school, not a Wednesday obligation — was going to keep them away.

“We caught the blue fever. We called in sick,” one Mercer Island High School senior admitted with a laugh.

“Everybody did, right. It is Wednesday. Nobody is supposed to be here,” another fan said.

Amid the celebration, fans took time to express genuine appreciation for the players and coaching staff who delivered the championship.

“I love our Sam Darnold, Mike Macdonald and JSN and all of the team,” one fan said. “They put a great championship together.”

For many in the crowd, Wednesday’s celebration was as much about what the team represents as what it accomplished on the field.

“We see you. We hear you. We watched you. You came through, and you never let us down,” one emotional fan said.
