The Magpies star will miss crunch games including the Tyne-Wear derby
Bruno Guimaraes is set for a spell on the sidelines
Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes has been ruled out until April after suffering a hamstring injury.
The Magpies now have a result of a scan following the 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur and he is expected to be missing for eight weeks. The injury leaves Newcastle short in midfield with Lewis Miley also suffering from a knee injury.
Despite reports from Brazil – via ESPN – Bruno is not expected to be missing for 10 weeks and Newcastle expect him to be on the sidelines until April, and unavailable for eight weeks at the most. However, those in Bruno’s camp suggest that he is a quick healer and they staying optimistic on his return date.
A source close to Bruno told Chronicle Live said: “Bruno will recover quickly. He takes great care of his body, his mind and his life.

“He is more than a professional. His body will bounce back fast. We have to trust the process.”
The Newcastle skipper starts his absence at Aston Villa in the FA Cup and will miss both legs of the Champions League play-offs against Qarabag. It also means he is highly likely to miss the Tyne-Wear derby against Sunderland.
Bruno himself had said after the Spurs clash: “Once again, I hope it [the injury] is nothing too serious and that I can be back soon.”
Speaking to journalists at Spurs, Howe said: “I’m not sure. He’s a little bit worried. He said he’s not sure he’s never had a problem with his hamstrings before, so is it cramp? was it a muscle problem?
“It probably feels more of an injury to me but let’s wait and see. We’ll try and stay positive at this moment.”
The only positive for Bruno is he won’t miss the season’s run-in and has avoided long-term injury, meaning he will play at the World Cup finals.
