City remain without striker Josh Sargent with the standoff over his future continuing. The American international wants to leave the club to join MLS side Toronto, but there has been no breakthrough in discussions.

Amankwah Forson has returned to training, but Shane Duffy remains sidelined along with Jeffery Schlupp. Left back Lucien Mahovo is expected to be sidelined for a significant period due to a muscular issue. New addition Paris Maghoma continues to step up his return to action with Harry Amass set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines after a hamstring injury sustained in training.

Ante Crnac and Mirko Topic have been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering ACL injuries. Elliot Myles and Gabe Forsyth have made their returns to training as they continue to build up their fitness levels.

Winger Matej Jurasek is also out with a foot injury, with goalkeeper Vladan Kovacevic a doubt after missing City’s midweek victory over Oxford United.

West Brom are set to be without a host of players for the clash, including Nat Phillips, George Campbell, Jed Wallace, Chris Mepham and Karlan Grant. Several youngsters are expected to be involved, including Harry Whitwell and Ollie Bostock.

City beat the Baggies 5-0 at the Hawthorns last month, with new boss Eric Ramsay still searching for his first win in charge.
