Bradford boys Bobby Pointon and Kayden Jackson netted in a 2-0 Valley Parade win that was far more convincing than the score suggested.

City had 29 efforts at goal to pound Posh, who were always in trouble after experienced defender Tom Lees did his calf in the warm-up.

Alexander beamed: “How could you not enjoy that?

“You see the performance in training when there’s nothing to lose, because there’s no points on the board, there’s no fans there, and stuff like that, and lads just go for it.

“It’s taking that mentality into games when there’s pressure on and performing on there and how difficult that can be.

“I thought they just took everything they do in training into the game from minute one to 90.

“Previously, we’d been on a little bit of a difficult run and everyone spoke about it, including us, but when we start like that, it just imprints on the opponent that we’re here to compete.”

Pointon opened the scoring after five minutes – his eighth of the season – and Jackson got off the mark five minutes into the second half.

Alexander added: “I thought he was running and getting in behind. His link-up play was good, and his movement in the box was excellent. You saw a few of the other chances where he’s linked up the play or made a run and created a space for other people.”

Peterborough boss Luke Williams had absolutely no complaints with the result.

“It was incredibly difficult. We played a very good side and they were streets ahead of us and we were no match for them.

“If we’d have got anything, we’d have considered ourselves extremely fortunate. The reality is that we were second best by miles and completely outclassed.”

Ibou Touray, who has started every league game, was forced off early in the second half with a back spasm. He is a doubt to face former club Stockport on Tuesday.

Alexander said: “I think he landed awkwardly and he just wanted to give it a go, and we had the decision whether we take them off at half-time when we don’t lose the substitution.

“We felt the way the performance was going, we didn’t want to disrupt that, but unfortunately after the first action he’s felt it again, so he had to come off.

“I think it’s just more like a back spasm, so these things can clear up straight away or they can linger so we’ll see this week.”

Max Power’s 10th booking means he will be banned for the next two games.
