A man is facing first-degree murder charges after a suspicious death was reported in northeast Calgary on Friday, police said.

Reports came in at around 6:20 a.m. for an assault at a home in the 100 block of Rundlecairn Road NE.

When officers arrived, a man in his 50s was found with life-threatening injuries. He died in hospital.

A man was arrested at the time, with investigators adding they believe the incident is targeted and there aren’t any suspects.

That man, 64-year-old Cecil Lapp, is being charged with second-degree murder, officers said Saturday.

He is expected to appear in court on Feb. 17.
