A return to Hull City proved to be a profitable evening for Liam Rosenior on Friday night as the Chelsea gaffer guided his side into the fifth round of The FA Cup with an easy 4-0 win.

Despite making as many as seven changes to his Chelsea side, Rosenior returned to the place where he played for five years as a player and managed during the 2023-24 season, to secure another Blues win.

The perfect remedy for the frustration of Tuesday’s 2-2 draw against Leeds United, in which the Blues surrendered a two-goal lead in six crazy second-half minutes, before Cole Palmer missed a sitter.

Rosenior has now guided Chelsea into the fifth round of The FA Cup and can relax as others attempt to do the same over the weekend. But in doing so, he matched Thomas Tuchel’s record while at Chelsea.

Eight wins in 11 Chelsea games for Liam Rosenior and Tuchel

Rosenior now has eight wins in his 11 games in all competitions as Chelsea boss. An impressive tally given when he came into the job, Chelsea had failed to win a Premier League match in an entire month.

Marc Cucurella says Chelsea’s players have more confidence and that is evident, with Rosenior using the depths of his squad and rotating heavily. Only Arsenal, on two occasions, and Leeds have stopped them.

Are you convinced by Rosenior yet, Chelsea fans?

His start is almost as good as Jose’s!

For the first time in his Chelsea reign, the Blues now have a week off and a chance to rest ahead of the next fixture against Burnley. But the win over Hull has seen Rosenior match Tuchel’s start to Chelsea life.

Indeed, the German also won eight of his first 11 games, his eighth coming in the form of a 2-0 victory over Everton. Only one Chelsea manager has got to eight wins in fewer games, and that is Jose Mourinho.

Liam Rosenior’s mettle will be tested in next few league games

While Rosenior has made a super start, some Chelsea fans remain unconvinced, and there is an element that he has got the job done, without actually providing any results Chelsea were not expected to get.

Chelsea were expected to win both FA Cup games under Rosenior and despite being away at Napoli, the same goes for his two Champions League games. As for his five league games, it should be five wins.

How many points do Chelsea get from their next three PL games? 🤔

The top-four race is hotting up…

Now, Rosenior’s mettle as Chelsea manager will be tested. After Burnley, Chelsea face a daunting run of games against Arsenal, Villa, Man City, Newcastle and Man United as well as the last 16 in Europe.

While Rosenior has got the job done so far, perhaps his Chelsea start will be judged on whether he can successfully keep Chelsea in the hunt for the top four after facing the teams in and around them.
