A group of around 50 people were involved in a brawl in the street outside of a pub in Bristol this afternoon (Sunday, February 15).
Police officers were called to the scene outside the Red Lion Pub on Whitehall Road around 3.30pm as “two groups with differing views” were involved in an altercation.
BristolLive has been told by a witness that the Red Lion Pub and its customers were “being hassled by a bunch of far-right people” waving flags and wearing face coverings.
A picture taken at the scene shows a group of people dressed in dark clothing, and most with their hoods up, waving Saint George’s Cross flags outside the door and in front of the windows of the pub.
A video sent to BristolLive also shows a large group of people, again with their faces covered, throwing punches and attempting to kick others as police officers attempt to disperse the crowd.
A black van with a Union Jack on the front bonnet was also parked right outside of the pub.
To prevent a breach of peace, police officers stepped in and the groups dispersed around 4.30pm.
No one was arrested but police officers are going over CCTV and body-camera footage and any offences will be investigated.
At the time of reporting, the crowds have left but a police van remains on the street.
