City could be pitted against Premier League big hitters Arsenal, Manchester City or Liverpool when they go into the hat for the last-16.
The club’s former double-title winning boss, Daniel Farke, guided Leeds into next round with a penalty shoot-out win at Birmingham on Sunday – City’s next league opponents.
Paris Maghoma, Ben Chrisene and Mohamed Toure were on target to sink the Baggies, and make it eight wins from the last 10 on Philippe Clement’s watch.
“I’m really bad in predicting which opponent I want, because I’ve done it for years in the Europa League or Champions League, and say I want to play against this team, and it never happened. So we’re not going to do that again,” said Clement.
“No, I really don’t care, to be honest, it’s the next experience for this group of players, and is it against a team of your own league or not, or a good Premier League team, or really top class Premier League team?
“It always will be a good challenge. It always will be an exciting game where we have ambition to win that game, and to go full for it.”
The fifth round draw will be live on TNT Sports from Macclesfield on Monday, ahead of the penultimate fourth round game in this season’s competition against Premier League Brentford.
Port Vale’s home tie with Bristol City has been re-arranged for early next month due to a waterlogged pitch.
The draw will be available to watch on TNT Sports 1, discovery+ and on the TNT Sports YouTube channel during the tie’s pre-match coverage, from approximately 6.35pm (UK).
Presented by Darren Fletcher and Ally McCoist, the draw will be made by Joe Cole and Karen Carney.
Fifth round ties will be played around the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, March 7/8.
Norwich’s scheduled Championship trip that weekend to Southampton will now be postponed, and a new date confirmed in due course.
