Celtic’s late winner against Kilmarnock has ruffled a few feathers.

Prior to yesterday’s top-of-the-table clash at Ibrox, both Rangers and Hearts will have been feeling a pit of hope that Martin O’Neill’s side would be dropping points.

Killie were 2-0 up at half-time, with Celtic looking hopeless in the first 45. O’Neill’s substitutes helped change the game in the second.

Sebastian Tounekti’s stunning strike got the ball rolling, before Benjamin Nygren equalised with plenty of time ahead for a winner.

But the moment that everyone has been talking about came via Julian Araujo…

Neil McCann wasn’t happy after the game.

He was incredulous at the seven minutes added by the fourth official, despite the timewasting that his own team had been partaking in.

Speaking after the game on Sky Sports, Kris Boyd couldn’t resist baking up his mate by having a pop at the officials when discussing the winner.

He said: “Well, there were three substitutes at half-time, wasn’t there? So…

“That can’t be added on to the second-half. I’m sure the board… actually, just change it: play on until Celtic score.

“Just hold the board up and say that. But listen, we can have a laugh and a joke about it… Martin O’Neill, he touched on it there. You can’t keep doing it.

“You cannot keep depending on last-minute goals. I think the worry for Celtic would be – or not a worry – they’re creating chances. Especially at home, they’re still creating chances.

“When you look at the other night, there, against Livingston – they should’ve been out of sight early doors. They were.

“And then, all of a sudden, other teams are getting belief against them. Kilmarnock started the game really well, and then Celtic faced that up, the task to come back into it.”

Why have Celtic been able to score so many late goals this season?

Celtic have now won five Scottish Premiership games in the 90th minute or later this season, including three under O’Neill.

In other competitions, they have won in extra time in both the Premier Sports Cup (against Rangers) and the Scottish Cup (against Dundee).

The Premiership tally doesn’t even include the home win over Aberdeen under Wilfried Nancy and the defeat of St Mirren on the opening day, with both being won a few minutes before stoppage time.

It certainly hasn’t been a good season for our heart rate.
