A 24-year-old woman was tragically killed when a white Ford Transit van overturned after leaving the road. Following the incident two men were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The crash happened on the A534 near Farndon on the Wales-England border. The van was travelling towards North Wales at the time, said Cheshire Police.

Officers were called to the scene at 5.50am on Saturday, February 14, following reports of a collision on the A534 at Barton, a small village eight miles east of Wrexham. Also attending were three crews from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, which said the van had “left the highway and overturned onto a field”.

Firefighters used extrication equipment to access the vehicle and release the woman passenger. She was treated by paramedics but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene

The driver, a 27-year-old man, and a second passenger, a 21-year-old man, were both taken to hospital for precautionary checks. They were subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
