The Danish striker’s brace helped Rovers on their way to a first away win since November. It was a confidence-boosting afternoon for everyone, none more so than Jorgensen.

Since coming in, Rovers have been trying to find the best way to utilise him. He is clearly a forward who loves to play on the last line and his team-mates found him more effectively with early passes into space.

“When you play in the front line, you want to contribute with some goals or some assists,” Jorgensen explained to RoversTV.

“Today, luckily, they went into the net and I got myself in scoring positions. It only came out of two really, really great passes.

“I think the guys also started to learn me a little bit better. The partnership with Andri, especially working with each other’s qualities, was a really nice afternoon on the field.

“I know football games are different and maybe next week there will be a different game. Then, you need to find something else to come up with.

“As I said, when I arrived, the minimum effort we need to get is working hard, working 100 per cent. I think all the way around, we showed that today, also myself.

“If we do that every weekend, in and out, then we have set ourselves up for great success, for getting some results in the future.”

Much of Jorgensen’s first was down the skill and quality of Ryoya Morishita. The Japanese forward produced a moment of magic to create the first goal, akin to Kevin de Bruyne in Jorgensen’s eyes.

“An unbelievable ball. A KDB ball,” he smiled.

“We also spoke about that when he’s turning forward. If there was a bit of a gap and a space, then it was about attacking it. The service was unbelievable.

“It was an unbelievable performance by Mori. You know that, especially as the type he is, he’s a guy who’s working 100 per cent every game, every training.

“When you do that, and you do that for your teammates, then you will get the benefit at some point. Today, Mori had a really great game again, I would say. He got into some scoring opportunities, a wonderful header and a great ball to me. He deserved that, as did the rest of the team.”

Rovers’ win moved them three points clear of the relegation zone. It was the perfect start for Michael O’Neill, who has made a strong impression on the squad already.

“You need to show the togetherness that we are all in this together. What an amazing support we had here,” Jorgensen reflected.

“I don’t know if it was 1,000 or something like that. It was unbelievable, and we could hear it all the way around in the game. To give them something back, it was really special for us.

“Now, it needs to be a habit. It’s not just a one-timer, and it’s just not worth it. We need to put it into action, and hopefully, we will continue with that.

“Michael has come in, and he told the dressing room he’s been watching some games and he knows our qualities.

“He may have seen the game from a bit above, so he’s seeing what we need. So I think the spirit and the belief he has in us, that was really something we needed to come in, and he did that from yesterday and today.”
