PAWTUCKET, R.I. — Five people were shot, two fatally, at an ice skating rink in Rhode Island on Monday afternoon, officials said. The suspect is also dead.

Officials during a press conference Monday said three people are currently at a local hospital in critical condition after the shooting that killed two others.

The incident was at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, about 5 miles outside of Providence.

Officials said the shooting likely stemmed from a “family dispute” during a high school hockey game about 2:30 p.m. ET.

The suspect was found dead with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

The names and ages of the victims have not been released.

The superintendent of one of the schools playing at the time of the shooting said in a message to parents that all students on the team are safe.

Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee said on social media that he’s monitoring the shooting and is in contact with law enforcement and local officials.

“I am praying for Pawtucket and everyone involved,” he said.

The FBI is also on the scene.

There is no imminent threat to public safety, the FBI said.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is also responding.

The public should avoid the area and follow the directions of Pawtucket police.
