Police are on the scene after shots were reportedly fired near Queen Street West and Portland Street downtown, shattering the window of a business.

Toronto police are investigating after several shots were fired through the windows of a downtown restaurant late Monday afternoon.

In a post on social media, police said officers responded to calls for a shooting just after 4:45 p.m. near Queen Street West and Portland Street.

They said evidence of gunfire was found at the scene, but no injuries were reported.

Damage to a building at 502 Queen St. W., which is home to an Asian fusion eatery called Miss Ivy, was discovered, with a glass door appearing to have been shattered by gunfire and three gunshot holes visible in another window.

Investigators do not have any suspect descriptions, but said they are believed to have fled the area in a dark-coloured vehicle.

This is the second time within the past nine days that gunshots have rang out near that intersection in broad daylight, rattling people in the area. No one was hurt in either incident.

“(This is the) second time it’s happened in a week, so it’s a little scary,” said Adrian Ravinsky, who lives nearby and owns a local business.

“I mean the only recognizable difference that I can see, is the one last Sunday there were a couple discernable bullet holes and today the whole window was totally shot out. But I mean bullet casing in the exact same spot, I mean looks almost like a carbon copy.”

Ravinsky said he was out both days walking his dog before coming across the aftermath and damage at Miss Ivy’s.

“I’m just hoping the business owners are okay and people are not targeting people in such a nice neighbourhood,” added another woman.

A man who works in the area said what happened is unnerving.

“I’m scared for like other people, some of my co-workers were scared to go after that,” he said.

“Two shootings in one week is not normal but some people not understanding what happening around the street,” added another.

There are several cameras on that stretch of Queen at Portland, just east of Bathurst.

Queen was shut down in both directions between Portland and Denison Avenue for the investigation, but has since reopened.

This investigation is ongoing an anyone with further information is asked to contact Toronto police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
