Police are identifying the man who was killed in a shooting in Chilliwack on Sunday, as they continue to investigate the case that also left another man injured.

The man who was killed has been identified as 48-year-old Chilliwack resident Kristopher Benson.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said Monday that the other man who was injured in the shooting on Mellard Avenue remains in hospital in stable condition.

Police were first called to a reported shooting at a home around 8:40 a.m. PT, according to a statement from the Upper Fraser Valley regional detachment.

IHIT took over the investigation shortly afterwards.

Homicide investigators said in a Monday statement that the motive behind the shooting is still unclear, but investigators believe the shooting was “targeted and isolated.”
