For those already looking ahead, Canada cannot meet the United States until a potential gold medal game.

Canada’s women face Switzerland in semifinal today

On the women’s side, Canada’s Women’s Olympic team is back in action Monday afternoon at 12:10 p.m. PST in Milan, Italy, taking on Switzerland in a semifinal showdown.

It’s a rematch from the preliminary round, where Canada opened the tournament with a 4-0 win over the Swiss.

Canada advanced to the semifinal with a 5-1 victory over Germany on Saturday. Captain Marie-Philip Poulin returned to the lineup after missing two games and scored her 18th career Olympic goal, tying Hayley Wickenheiser for the most goals by a women’s hockey player in Olympic history.

Sarah Fillier continues to climb the all-time scoring list and is tied for the team lead in points alongside Daryl Watts.

Switzerland advanced with a 1-0 win over Finland, powered by a goal from Alina Müller and a 40-save shutout performance from goaltender Andrea Brändli.

Historically, Canada has dominated this Olympic matchup, holding a 6-0 all-time record against Switzerland at the Games, outscoring them 44-6.
