Silent Witness is teasing an exit for one of the fan favourite characters. The BBC show is back tonight for another episode, which sees Dr Nikki Alexander and Jack Hodgson take on their latest case.
The BBC show has been disrupted over the last couple of weeks, when different episodes have aired due to its similarities to real life events. Due to a real life attack in Birmingham which had similarities to the plot, the BBC switched the episodes to series 29’s fifth and six episode, called Creekwood, which aired in its place.
The BBC said in a statement: “Due to the attack in Birmingham over the weekend, this week’s episodes of Silent Witness will not transmit as planned and instead they have been replaced with two episodes from later on in the series.”

The story follows Jack and Nikki’s latest case, as they investigate the tragic killing of a young person, which seems to be a racially motivated attack. Elsewhere, the pair have been searching for their forever home to make a permanent move to the city.
Jack is standing outside their new home when his phone goes and he realises that he’s being sent a video of himself. In the video, he is talking about Ross, the man who murdered DI Kayla Baran’s partner, Destan.
“He was attacked from behind by a Muslim asylum seeker who came over in one of the boats, and he defended himself,” he said in the video, “Since when was self-defence a crime? He’s a patriot.” He appeared to be stood next to the vigil for Destan, where he said: “We got one. We need to get more.”
Of course, it wasn’t really Jack and instead is a deepfake AI video. But if this gets out, could this ruin his life both personally and professionally – and does this mean an exit is on the cards for Jack?
Speaking about the storyline, Jack Hodgson has revealed more about where he and Nikki are in this new series.
“Jack and Nikki are settling into a new home in Birmingham and getting used to The Bowman Centre, trying to find a bit of balance. Jack is still the same stubborn, sarcastic fella, just with a bit more self-awareness,” he explained.
“He’s older and more mature. He’s more affected by the trials and tribulations of his work and we see that play out majorly in this series. Jack is really tested in one story, a very personal odyssey he must go on alone.”
Discussing his character, he added: “The thing I love about Jack is that he’s tough but can be vulnerable. He can fight but knows how to control it. He’s a truth-seeker, a righteous crusader, a bit of a warrior-monk, really. There’s always something new to find with him.
“And honestly, the cast and crew feel like family now, the kind you don’t mind seeing again every year.
