On February 17, 2026, at approximately 7:33 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a serious two-vehicle collision on Wilson Street at the Highway 403 eastbound exit ramp.

The investigation determined that a 2025 Jeep Compass, driven by a 29-year-old woman, was travelling westbound on Wilson Street. A 2022 Acura MDX, driven by a 52-year-old man, had exited Highway 403 and was attempting to turn left onto Wilson Street when the two vehicles collided. A 43-year-old woman was seated in the front passenger seat of the Acura.

All three occupants were transported to hospital. The 52-year-old male driver of the Acura was pronounced deceased at hospital. The 43-year-old female passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The 29-year-old female driver of the Jeep was treated and is in stable condition.

The Hamilton Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit attended the scene, with assistance from the Forensic Services Branch. The investigation is ongoing. As with all serious collisions, investigators are reviewing all potential contributing factors, including driver actions and roadway conditions. At this time, there is no information to confirm that speed, weather, or impairment were factors.

Witnesses remained at the scene and have spoken with investigators. Police continue to ask anyone with additional information or dash camera footage to come forward.

Wilson Street was closed for several hours while investigators examined the scene and reopened at approximately 4:15 a.m.

Out of respect for the family, the Hamilton Police Service will not be releasing the name of the deceased.
