GO train service through Guelph has now resumed following a fatal collision involving a pedestrian on Thursday morning.
According to transit service provider, Metrolinx, it was around 6:30 a.m. when a person was hit by a GO train just east of Guelph on the Kitchener Line, later confirmed as a fatality.
In an alert posted online, commuters were told early Thursday morning that delays and cancellations would continue for anyone heading from Kitchener to Brampton.
“Trains cannot move through the area until a full investigation is completed. There will be significant delays and possible cancellations.”
Guelph police had also indicated that officers were on scene in the area of York Road and Watson Parkway for an active investigation.
The circumstances around the incident are still unclear, though an update provided just before 10 a.m. stated that the investigation had concluded with trains given permission to move through the area.
Riders are encouraged to use the GO tracker website for more information on departures.
Metrolinx also notes that there may still be some “residual delays, cancellations and possible modifications” as work continues to resume regular service.
