Police Scotland has named a woman who died at a property in Dornoch as 46-year-old Naomi MacIvor.

Her family, who are are being supported by specialist officers, said Naomi was a “friend to everyone” in a statement released following her death, and that they will “never get over losing her”.

“Naomi was a loving mother, auntie, daughter and grand-daughter,” the statement reads. “She was a friend to everyone.

“We will never get over losing her. She was taken far too early for such a bright spirit.

“We shall miss her for forever and love her eternally. The family have asked for privacy to grieve at this difficult time.”

Officers were called to Morrison Court around 4.40pm on Saturday, February 21, 2026 and the body of a woman was found within.

A 34-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with the death.

Daniel Sutherland appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court and made no plea.

He has been remanded in custody until his next appearance within the next seven days.
