The head coach revealed that “everybody’s knackered” at the end of an intense period and that very fact was part of what made him so proud of what could prove to be a crucial 2-1 win.
While the Hornets’ play-off hopes are alive, it is not so much the league table as the attitude that impressed the head coach at Ashton Gate.
The game was level at half-time after Scott Twine had equalised Luca Kjerrumgaard’s opener, resulting in Still asking for one more push at the break.
He said: “It was a question at half-time: ‘What do we do from now guys? We can step back and accept we’re tired. Or are we going to push and find that little bit of extra energy to get it over the line?’
“That’s what we did. Everybody’s knackered. The staff – you should see the analysts, they haven’t slept all week.
“And it’s the same for Bristol City as well. At half-time, when they’re also struggling and suffering, what do we do?”

Jeremy Ngakia’s scorcher moved the Hornets temporarily back up to seventh with the win and they will remain in touching distance when they next play at Sheffield Wednesday on March 10, the first of four games in 11 days.
Still has told his players that they will focus on the league table at the end of the season rather than worry about it now, but wants to harness that feeling of belief among fans and players.
He said: “That for the fans is definitely the most important thing, how they feel driving home is what counts.
“The table will take care of itself, ultimately. There are lots of games to be played this weekend, so something else will happen. We’ve said a couple of times this week that we’ll look at the table come the end of the season.
“Between now and then, all we can do is give it our absolute all in every next upcoming game.
“You want to be able to bounce back from defeat and we know at this stage of the season that every point matters, every game matters.
“We had this evening and this game in our hands, so we wanted to make something good of that. Now we’ve got to do everything to make sure we’re on it come those four games in 10 days’ time or so.”
