The new Formula 1 season is just weeks away. As per every year, one of the most glamourous sports on the planet will bring some of the richest people in the world together on a weekly basis as they battle it out on the track and behind the scenes. While F1 contains several wealthy drivers and owners, there’s one man who’s astonishing net worth exceeds F1 icon Lewis Hamilton and Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll.

Larry Ellison, chairman, CEO and co-founder of software giant Oracle – Red Bull’s title sponsor – holds the top spot among F1’s richest billionaires, according fo Crash’s list, with a net worth of £140billion, per Forbes. He is currently the sixth richest person in the world, behind the likes of Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg. He was Oracle’s chief executive officer from 1977 to 2014 and now functions as its chief.

Ellison was seen in the Red Bull Racing Garage during the Miami GP in May last year, alongside Musk. He owns many spectacular cars and is thought to be close with US President Donald Trump.

For context, Ellison’s staggering fortune makes him around 400 times richer than Hamilton, who is worth a reported £350million as F1’s wealthiest driver.

Coming in second on the list is Carlos Slim Helu. Slim is known as Mexico’s richest person and the billionaire backer who has supported much of F1 star Sergio Perez’s career between 2011 and 2024. Perez is now back on the grid with Cadillac in 2026.

Slim is currently the 16th richest person in the world with a reported net worth of around £87billion, according to Forbes. A business magnate, investor, and philanthropist, his company, Telmex has operated as a long-time sponsor of Perez.

Mark Mateschitz is the third richest billionaire in F1, worth £34bn. He is the son of the late Red Bull founder Dietrich, Mateschitz sits 38th in Forbes’s list of the world’s richest people as of 2025.

The Austrian billionaire owns 49% of Red Bull GmbH, the energy drink company. Piero Ferrari is then F1’s fourth richest billionaire.

The Italian boasts a net worth of £5.7billion, per Forbes. Ferrari is a businessman, the only living son of iconic founder Enzo and he is a 10.48% owner of the Ferrari automotive company, of which he is the vice chairman.

As of this year, he is the 304th richest person in the world and the fifth richest in his home nation. Aramco F1 Team’s owner, Stroll takes the fifth spot with a net worth of £3.7bn.

In 2018, the Canadian businessman led a consortium of investors in buying the assets of the defunct Force India Formula One team.

For the 2019 season, the team name was changed to Racing Point F1 Team, with Stroll’s son, Lance, driving one of the cars. In 2020, it was announced that Stroll led the Yew Tree Investments consortium to invest £182 million into Aston Martin, in return for a 16.7% stake in the company.

The team was rebranded as the Aston Martin F1 Team in 2021. The 2026 F1 season will get underway with the Melbourne Grand Prix in Australia on March 6.
