A man has been charged with attempted murder after police officers were attacked with an axe and bitten by a dog in south-east London.

Officers attended an address on Marine Street, Bermondsey, at about 15:20 GMT on Sunday in connection with an ongoing investigation.

Two of them were bitten by a dog and one was also injured by an axe. The pair were taken to hospital. A third officer suffered a minor injury.

As well as attempted murder, Stephen Coombes is accused of being in charge of a dog that caused injury while dangerously out of control, a racially aggravated Public Order Act offence and harassment to put in fear of violence.
