VAR approved Nygren’s winner
Stewing Ally McCoist claimed Celtic’s winner against Aberdeen was “offside” and reckons VAR official Chris Graham needs an emergency eyeball examination.
The Rangers icon reckons Benjamin Nygren’s strike in Celtic’s gutsy 2-1 win at Pittodrie was offside – despite the official lines drawn by the video replay showing the Sweden international was behind the last defender.
Peter Leven was also left fizzing and the Aberdeen boss and demanded answers over why only one line was drawn by the video replay team.
The initial image shown from the Sky camera appeared to show Nygren‘s goal may have been ruled out, however, the resulting freeze frame removed doubt.
But the 63-year-old wasn’t having it, and compared Nick Walsh’s video replay assistant to a visually impaired comic from years gone by.
McCoist, speaking to talkSPORT, said: “Has anything changed after Celtic’s half yard offside goal winner? You need to get a look at it, here’s one for the younger ones, was Marty Feldman on VAR? Here’s one for the younger ones, look up Marty Feldman. Whoever was on VAR needs to get their eyeballs checked.”
