The FIFA World Cup is coming, and so is the party.

More details have been shared regarding the FIFA Fan Festival, which is taking over the PNE in Vancouver for 28 days, from June 11 to July 19. Organizers say it will transform the PNE into a “FIFA World Cup hub” with “family-focused entertainment to immersive fan activities for all ages.”

“The FIFA Fan Festival will be Vancouver’s biggest watch party and the best place to cheer on live World Cup action outside of BC Place Vancouver,” the City of Vancouver’s Host Committee announced in a media release on Thursday.

While tickets to World Cup matches are extraordinarily expensive and hard to get, the Fan Festival is a free event.

“The beautiful game belongs to everyone, and the FIFA Fan Festival will be a truly incredible opportunity to be a part of the celebration,” said Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim. “The Fan Festival will leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of all those who experience it. We are ready to put our best foot forward to proudly showcase local First Nations, Vancouver, British Columbia and Canada on a global stage.”

The FIFA Fan Festival will be open for a majority of days during the FIFA World Cup, with capacity for up to 25,000 fans. Perfect for outdoor concerts, the PNE’s new amphitheatre is expected to be open in time for the festival.

Live music and entertainment will be included in the festival, as well as food and beverage stations, and interactive games and activations. An official FIFA store will also be set up at the venue.

More details are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks, though festival opening and closing times have been revealed.
