The Vancouver Canucks got in two buzzer-beaters right at the NHL trade deadline, trading David Kämpf and Lukas Reichel in separate deals.

Kämpf has reportedly been traded to the Washington Capitals in exchange for a sixth-round pick. Reichel, meanwhile, netted a sixth-rounder from the Boston Bruins.

Both picks are in the 2026 draft.

Kämpf had two goals and six points in 38 games for the Canucks this season. After having his contract terminated by the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Czech centre signed a one-year deal worth $1.1 million with the Canucks on Nov. 15.

Vancouver acquired Reichel in November in exchange for a fourth-round pick. He played 14 disappointing games with the Canucks, registering just one assist, before being sent down to Abbotsford.

Although they were able to trade both players for late-round picks, they weren’t able to trade two of their other unrestricted free agent forwards.

Multiple insiders reported that both Teddy Blueger and Evander Kane are remaining with the Canucks beyond the deadline.

It was reported Thursday that the Pittsburgh Penguins had interest in reacquiring Blueger. Instead, they stood pat on deadline day.

Blueger previously indicated he would like to stay in Vancouver.

Evander Kane had been rumoured to be on the trade block for months. However, Canucks fans were warned earlier this week that there wasn’t a ton of interest in his services.

Still, other players of a similar ilk, such as Corey Perry and Michael Bunting, fetched second and third-round picks, respectively, before the trade deadline.
