WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – Iranian-Americans gathered in Washington on Saturday to rally for democracy in Iran as the U.S. and Israel continue military action in the country.
Demonstrators called for a free, democratic, secular, non-nuclear Iran, with the Iranian people determining the nation’s future.
The ongoing military campaign has killed many senior Iranian regime leaders, including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
More than 1,400 people have died in the first week of the Iran conflict, according to reports.
Ana Sami, an Iranian American who attended the rally, said the voices of Iranians must be considered in any transition of power.
“These voices have to be heard. Iranians do not want foreign intervention. They do not want anyone who talks about a government that includes the remnants of the IRGC, and they do not wish to go back to a monarchy,” Sami said.
Despite calls to leave the decision to the Iranian people, President Donald Trump said he must be involved in picking Iran’s next leader. Also, Saturday, Trump also repeated his position that Operation Epic Fury is going very well.
