MINNEAPOLIS — A girl who had been missing in Minneapolis for several days has been found alive, KARE 11 has confirmed.
Minneapolis police increased the urgency of the search as fears rose that she could be experiencing a medical emergency.
In a press conference Tuesday afternoon, Minneapolis Police Chief O’Hara told reporters that Victoria may have run out of her insulin, which is a life-threatening emergency. News that Victoria was found came less than an hour after this press conference.
In a second press conference, O’Hara revealed that the girl had stated she wanted to run away before she did. He said she had been with a friend since Saturday, and late in the afternoon on Tuesday, she, with the friend and the friend’s parent, walked home. O’Hara said the friend’s home is near her own and police had stopped by several times during their search, but had no reason to believe she was inside. He said they are investigating the circumstances now, including how long the adult knew she was there.
O’Hara told reporters Victoria is healthy and now at home.
