The seventh soldier to die in the Iran war has been identified by the Department of War.His name is Sgt. Benjamin Pennington, 26, and he’s from Glendale, Kentucky. He died days later on Sunday, March 8.He was assigned to 1st Space Battalion, 1st Space Brigade, Fort Carson, Colorado last June. He was supporting Operation Epic Fury at the time of his death.Pennington was also a graduate of Central Hardin High School, class of 2017.Gov. Andy Beshear put out a message about his passing:”Kentucky, I am sad to share we just received news that Sgt. Benjamin N. Pennington from Glendale has died due to injuries from an Iranian attack. Sgt. Pennington is a hero who sacrificed everything serving our country. Please join Britainy and me as we pray for his family and our fellow Kentuckians during this difficult time,” he said on social media.Pennington’s awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (3), Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (2), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Korea Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.The first six killed died in an attach in Kuwait.They died March 1 when a drone hit a command center in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait.This story will be updated.
